Saleh al-Jafarawi was killed on Monday as Hamas and other Palestinian factions fought against one another.
Rama Duwaji, the woman who married Mamdani in February, posted four broken heart emojis on Instagram with the news of the passing of Hamas influencer Saleh al-Jafarawi. Duwaji wrote on her Instagram story, "Beloved Jafarawi"

Jafarawi, who posted videos and photos from the war in Gaza on multiple occasions and was accused of being a crisis actor in the war, being seen in multiple different video scenarios, was killed on Monday as Hamas and other Palestinian factions fought against one another on Monday after the Israeli Defense Forces pulled out of some areas of Gaza.
Jafarawi was seen in videos on October 7 celebrating the slaughter of Israelis by Hamas. Many Israelis cheered his demise, as many saw him as one who produced propaganda on behalf of the terrorist organization. Many pro-Palestinian activists mourned his passing.
Video was posted to Jafarawi’s X account on social media, where he was seen dead wearing a press vest. Some online dubbed him, "Mr. FAFO," a term used for the influencer after he posted a video celebrating the deaths of Israelis and posted another of himself sobbing when Israel retaliated.
Former Israeli spokesperson Eylon Levy said of his death, "For the last two years, I have followed Hamas content creator Saleh Al-Jafrawi (‘Mr FAFO’) with a mix of horror and admiration. I was engrossed. Mr FAFO had phenomenal energy, charisma, and creativity. Always popping up in a different costume, once a patient then a radiologist, a jihadist then a foreign correspondent, a ham actor but always with panache and chutzpah, constantly finding inventive ways to grab new audiences and tell his story," per the Times of Israel.
“Early in the war, I thought: in another life, we could have been great friends. He seemed like an absolute riot and barrel of laughs. We could have been mates, in another life, in which he did not dedicate his talents for evil, using his voice to fight for the genocidal terrorist army that perpetrated the October 7 massacre and chose to fight a bloody urban war from under the feet of the civilians it kept trapped as human sacrifices,” he added.
