On Saturday, a 15-year-old suspect was critically injured after reportedly firing at officers during brawls at the opening weekend of Six Flags Over Georgia.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), police fired after the teens shot at officers who were trying to remove them from the vicinity of the amusement park as multiple fights broke out among teenagers.

Cobb County Police said that the 15-year-old was one of several teens running through the park brawling.

Videos on social media showed the brawls as well as people scattering when the gunfire began.

The department told Newsweek in a statement, that there were approximately 500 to 600 people "running through the park and fighting."

"Cobb County Police and Security were able to follow the crowd out of the park onto Six Flags Parkway near South Service Road. As officers followed the crowd out, ensuring they left the property, an unknown number of suspects fired at officers. An officer returned fire, striking one of the suspects."

Six Flags Over Georgia told Fox 5 in a statement, "It is incredibly disappointing that our community is disrupted at public events throughout the region by groups of underaged youth."

The theme park added, "…we are committed to keeping this type of trouble outside our park and off our property. There was police activity involving gunshots; we want to confirm there was no shooting at our property or parking lot. This took place on South Service Road that is not owned or operated by Six Flags,” noting “We won't put up with that type of activity here."

The suspect was provided medical attention at the scene and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. It is not yet known what charges if any will be filed.

The GBI is investigating the shooting.
