"Crime in Atlanta is WORST IN NATION. She should be impeached for many reasons, not just the witch hunt."
2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump called out Fulton County DA Fani Willis on Monday, stating that she should be focusing on the crime wave Georgia is experiencing rather than the "Witch Hunt" against him and his allies.
"Governor Kemp of Georgia is fighting hard against the impeachment of the crooked, incompetent, & highly partisan DA of Fulton County, Fani Willis, who has allowed murder and other violent crime to MASSIVELY ESCALATE," Trump wrote.
"Crime in Atlanta is WORST IN NATION. She should be impeached for many reasons, not just the witch hunt (I did nothing wrong!). Willis should focus on out of control murder, not 'I will get TRUMP' over a perfect phone call. Georgia does not deserve this GIANT MURDER WAVE."
The post came as video of a truck hitting several pedestrians while attempting to flee from police officers went viral on social media.
According to Newsweek, a Georgia Safety Patrol attempted to apprehend the driver of a Ford F-150 that was seen doing donuts in the middle of the intersection of 17th Street and Northside Drive where a large crowd had gathered and blocked traffic. The driver was stopped by the officer, but not before the driver ran over several crowd members.
The Atlanta Police Department’s latest available weekly report published on August 12 reveals that while some crimes such as homicide and aggravated assault are down year to date compared to the same period last year, shoplifting is up 16 percent and motor vehicle theft is up 69 percent across the city as a whole.
Some zones of the city remain in worse shape than others. Zone four, for example, which covers the neighborhoods of Adamsville, Ben Hill, Campcreek Market Place, Cascade, Greenbriar, Oakland City, Princeton Lakes, Venetian Hills and West End, has seen homicide levels the same as year to date last year, including a 500 percent jump in the previous 28 days. The zone has also seen a 142 percent increase in vehicle theft from last year.
