On Saturday, Muslim leaders in eight swing states launched a campaign to "#AbandonBiden" in the 2024 election due to his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.

According to Politico, leaders from Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania met in Dearborn, Michigan to coordinate their efforts before the election.

During a press conference, University of Minnesota professor and member of the coalition, Hassan Abdel Salam said, "We’re looking into finding ways to build a mechanism of coordination between all the swing states so that we’re constantly working together to ensure that Muslim Americans will come out in all of these states, and that Mr. Biden will lose each and every one of them."

"Right behind me, what Mr. Biden should see is 111 electoral votes. And he won last time with 74," He added.

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Minnesota executive director and #AbandonBiden member, Jaylani Hussein noted, "We are not powerless as American Muslims. We are powerful." He continued, "We don’t only have the money, but we have the actual votes. And we will use that vote to save this nation from itself."

"This is a dangerous precedent for Americans,” Hussein added. "And for those who are watching at home, you want your sons to be sent to another war that we know will never end? No. Most Americans agree with us that a ceasefire and bringing peace is the right action.”

Hussein also noted that the coalition is also "not supporting Trump" in 2024 either. "We’re not going to make the same mistake of thinking about President Biden the way we thought. We don’t have two options. We have many options, and we’re going to exercise that," he said.

In a recent NBC poll, only 33 percent of voters approved of President Biden's handling of foreign policy, and 56 percent disapproved of his handling of the Israel-Hamas war. Leaders in the Muslim communities have been calling on President Biden to demand a cease-fire in the conflict since it started after a Hamas terror attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
