Schiff allegedly stated the information would be used “to indict President Trump.”
According to newly revealed FBI memos obtained by Just the News, the whistleblower, a Democrat by party affiliation that described himself as a friend to both Schiff and former Republican House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, called the leaking “unethical,” “illegal,” and “treasonous.” But he told agents he was reassured by Schiff and others that there was no risk of prosecution because the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause would shield them from legal consequences.
No public record exists showing the Attorney General or Solicitor General ever issued an opinion endorsing that interpretation. DOJ officials allegedly showed little interest in pursuing the matter, citing the same excuse Schiff had offered, the outlet reported.
In a 2023 interview with the FBI’s St. Louis office, the whistleblower said he attended an all-staff meeting where Schiff explicitly authorized leaking classified material derogatory to Trump. Schiff allegedly stated the information would be used “to indict President Trump.” When the whistleblower objected, others in the meeting reportedly assured him they would not be caught.
The staffer made similar claims to the FBI’s Washington field office in 2017, shortly after Trump took office.
While the alleged leaks are now beyond the statute of limitations for most charges, the revelations come as Schiff faces a separate DOJ referral for potential mortgage fraud.
Kash Patel, who turned the FBI memos over to Congress, told the outlet, “For years, certain officials used their positions to selectively leak classified information to shape political narratives. It was all done with one purpose: to weaponize intelligence and law enforcement for political gain.”
