Former short-lived White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin told The View Tuesday that Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is “running a flawless campaign” in her attempt to become president.

“So there is no doubt that the momentum is on Kamala Harris' side right now. But I've been talking to a lot of pollsters, and … they say this, we live in such an era of polarization that she's running a flawless campaign. She could ride out on a pegasus with bald eagles and a sword, and she's not going to pull ten points ahead, because people tend to vote against the other party and with the jersey that they wear,” Griffin said.

“That said, she's running really smart. I was at the [Democratic National] Convention for CNN. I closed my eyes at one point. I was like, ‘this could be Mitt Romney speaking.’”

The Democratic leadership has been urging Harris to take a “savvy strategy” since taking the party’s leadership without entering or winning a single primary. That has included doing a minimum of media interviews. She agreed to do a sit-down interview with CNN’s Dana Bash last week but was accompanied by her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and the two essentially split airtime in the pre-taped session.

Recent polls indicate the presidential race is close but that former President Donald Trump is now leading Harris among men by 5 percentage points, according to an ABC/Ipsos poll. During the Democratic National Convention, The View’s Anna Navarro spoke about the need for America to receive a “great big hug” while she compared Trump to a series of communist leaders.
