American voters do not support forcing Israel into 'peace deal' with Palestinian Authority due to close ties with Hamas: Gideon300/RMG Research poll

On March 27, the findings of a nationwide survey were presented and the results shocked some while emphasizing what many already knew: most US voters oppose the effort to push Israel into a peace deal upon learning of the Palestinian Authority's alignment with Hamas. 

The Gideon300 public affairs agency, in collaboration with RMG Research, created by Scott Rasmussen, one of the world's leading public opinion pollsters, presented the results that were based on a survey of 1,000 potential general election US voters conducted on March 11-12. 

"This data reveals that voters are squarely opposed to any proposal that would force Israel to make a deal with terrorists, or those who support terror," said Matthew Faraci, President of Gideon300. "At the beginning of this survey, a slim majority favored the US brokering a deal involving Palestinian Authority. However, after learning about the PA's alignment with Hamas, voters dramatically switched their opinion, and—in the end—a strong majority across all parties opposed such a deal." 

Faraci further explained, "The biggest seismic shift is among Democrats—who swung a stunning 30 points—but there is also significant movement with Independents and Republicans. Elected representatives in both parties should look past the noise and pay close attention to data revealing where the public really is on this issue." 

All interviews were conducted online, and survey invitations were dispersed at random within specified geographic units. These units were designed to correspond with the actual voter turnout in the general election. The accuracy of this poll of 1,000 general election voters is +/- 3.1% at a 95% confidence level.

KEY INSIGHT: 

55% of American voters initially favored the US encouraging Israel to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinian Authority: 

• 27% strongly favor 
• 28% slightly favor
• 13% somewhat oppose 
• 10% strongly oppose 
• 22% are unsure

KEY INSIGHT: 

Less than a third of American voters still support a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority after learning that the PA wants to form a unity government with Hamas (including cabinet positions for Hamas), large sums of financial support for Hamas terrorists, and that 82% of PA supporters approve of Hamas' terrorist attacks on October 7th.

KEY INSIGHT: 

The majority of voters believe that the Palestinian Authority and Hamas are part of the same terror cartel, despite the Palestinian Authority wanting to form a unity government with Hamas 

• 56% believe the PA's activities make them part of the same terror cartel as Hamas
• 17% believe PA activities do not constitute membership in the same terror cartel as Hamas 
• 27% are unsure

KEY INSIGHT: 

Democratic Voters Experience the Largest Swing Towards Negative Sentiment Towards Peace Deal After Learning of Palestinian Authority's Association with Hamas and Plans to Form a Unity Government with Hamas. 

• 43 percent of Democratic voters still supported a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority after learning about PA's association with Hamas including plans to form a unity government with Hamas, down from 73 percent of initial support. 
• 28 percent of Independent voters still supported a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority after learning about PA's association with Hamas including plans to form a unity government with Hamas, down from 47 percent of initial support. 
• 19 percent of Republican voters still supported a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinian Authority after learning about PA's association with Hamas including plans to form a unity government with Hamas, down from 38 percent of initial support. 

Hamas openly seeks to destroy Israel in its entirety and replace it with a Palestinian-Islamic state. Article 13 of its charter states that "there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad [holy war]."
