The RCMP have released a statement saying that a 37-year-old Toronto area man possibly known for his anti-mask activism was arrested on Saturday for causing a disturbance.
Although the police refused to positively identify the man in question, he appears to be a man known as “Chris Sky”, a man noted in Canada as being actively opposed to regulations requiring the use of face masks in public.
According to Global News, the man made a video of an altercation he had with a WestJet flight attendant, where he shows an alleged medical exemption the attendant seems to not want to accept.
One can hear in the video that the arrest was clearly made for causing a disturbance, and not for breaking the quarantine regulations in place, as was reported elsewhere in the news and on social media.
It is also alleged that Sky was on the way to an anti-mask rally in the city of Moncton, which took place later that day.
Sky was released once he got off the plane, and then was immediately escorted by police to another plane, taking him back from the Atlantic region to Toronto.
According to the RCMP, he now has a January 25thcourt date set where he will have to answer to the charges.
