Apple has revealed plans to invest $500 billion in the US, including hiring 20,000 new workers in research and development roles in the next four years under President Donald Trump. The company aims to "build on Apple's long history of investing in American innovation and advanced high-skilled manufacturing.”

Apple's CEO Tim Cook said that the $500 billion investment will support "a wide range of initiatives that focus on artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, and skills development for students and workers across the country,” per the Daily Mail.

"We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we're proud to build on our long-standing US investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country's future,” Cook added. "We'll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation."

The investment also includes doubling the Advanced Manufacturing Fund and building advanced technology in Texas, with Cook saying Apple will “keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation.”

Apple plans to construct a new factory in Texas, relocating from its California headquarters, joining many other companies moving operations from the Golden State to Texas.

Apple's move follows other companies, like Elon Musk's decision to relocate the headquarters of X and SpaceX to Texas, citing the state's more business-friendly environment compared to California. The company emphasized its support of over 2.9 million jobs nationwide through direct employment. Additionally, Apple plans to operate 24 factories in the US producing silicon, the company's processors for its products, as part of its domestic investment.

As Trump has taken office, similar moves have been seen by other tech companies, pledging to make more investment into American-based manufacturing and services. Cook also donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural committee.

Trump wrote in response, "Apple has just announced a record 500 billion dollar investment in the United States of America. The reason, faith in what we are doing, without which, they wouldn’t be investing ten cents. Than you Tim Cook and Apple!!!"
