The Biden-Harris administration is reportedly moving to implement new soft immigration policies right before President-elect Donald Trump takes office and intends to launch a new app in December that will allow illegal immigrants to go without in-person check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices.

As the incoming Trump administration has begun taking shape, promising to make good on promises to enact deportations of illegal immigrants, the Biden-Harris administration seems to be working against it with the new ICE Portal app, per the New York Post.

The app will allow for illegal immigrants to get away from law enforcement as it has been shown to be unreliable and even when functioning correctly, does not check illegal immigrants for previous arrest records, Homeland Security sources told the outlet. The current in-person system does do this, but the app will not have the same granular abilities as in-person check-ins would.

The first round of the program with the app will include up to 100,000 illegal immigrants. However, that is only the start of what the outgoing administration has been up to regarding immigration. Those who cross the border will also be allowed to contest orders from the feds to be tracked electronically. The app is separate from another app that the Biden-Harris administration used in order to bring illegal immigrants into the country, called CBP One

The last-minute move from the Biden-Harris administration was characterized as “the opposite of a peaceful transition of power," by Mark Morgan, the former acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner. “What they’re trying to do in the last final day, they’re going to try to put up as many roadblocks and obstacles and throw as many grenades as they can on their way out."

The app will be rolled out even with its "extreme issues" in software abilities after it was tested in multiple cities. According to sources who spoke to the Post, the app is not working on Android phones, and it cannot collect GPS data when people check in on a laptop. Once an illegal immigrant checks in with the office on a phone, their location is only shared for seven days, the outlet reported. Under the current system, illegal immigrants have to check in and provide proof of their address.
