A California official has sounded the alarm about the illegal immigration crisis in the city of San Diego. Border Patrol facilities have been overrun by border crossers, maxing them out at full capacity. This has promoted authorities to take measures to mitigate the influx—but only at the expense of other American cities.

San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond revealed that illegal immigrants who arrive in San Diego and are unable to be handled there are being flown to McAllen, Texas. He sounded the alarm on X, explaining that after unlawfully crossing the southern border, border agents drive illegal immigrants to the San Diego Airport after undergoing processing.

"You may see this plane next time you're at the San Diego Airport," wrote Desmond. "Every other day, this plane transports migrants from San Diego to McAllen, Texas, because Border Patrol facilities in San Diego are over capacity. Here's how the process works: Migrants surrender to Border Patrol agents, are taken to a processing center, placed on a bus, and then flown to Texas - all on your dime."

Desmond blamed the crisis on the Biden-Harris administration for its open border policies, which he said have strained city resources and created security concerns. He also slammed the city's sanctuary status, telling the Texas Scorecard that San Diego cannot take in any more illegal immigrants.

In additional comments on X, Desmond added: "The border is still being overwhelmed, yet this administration continues to allow thousands into this country, further straining our resources and security."

Since border patrol facilities have been at max capacity, San Diego has sought out alternative accommodations. This includes housing illegal immigrants in hotels on the taxpayer's dime. In February, a San Diego shelter housing "asylum seekers" was forced to shut down because it ran out of funds after housing too many people.

The city has also used the San Diego Airport as a makeshift holding center, housing more than 300 migrants in November.
