President Joe Biden is set to take part in round two of the presidential debates and has no plans of dropping out, according to reports citing an advisor close to the president. The news comes after Biden had a performance that sparked widespread "panic" in the Democratic Party on Thursday.

According to Senior White House correspondent for CNN Kayla Tausche, a Biden adviser informed her that Biden wants to do the second debate that has already been planned and is not planning on dropping out of the race.

"Not only does President Biden not plan to drop out, Biden remains committed to a second debate in September, an adviser tells me," Tausche wrote online.

Biden, 81, is set to return to the debate stage in September against Trump and the debate will be hosted by ABC News. This is despite what has largely been reported as a dismal performance on Thursday night against Trump. Biden slurred his speech at times, appeared shaky, and had a hard time articulating his thoughts.

Multiple political pundits who have dealt with Biden in the past suggested that the incumbent president should step down from his post. When Vice President Kamala Harris went on CNN to vouch for Biden, she dodged questions on the president’s performance repeatedly and chalked it up to a "slow start" on the debate stage. In addition, "elder abuse" trended on X on Thursday evening, indicating that many people thought that Biden could no longer handle being in charge of the country.

In addition, the multiple different moments on stage where Biden looked frail and feeble, he falsely claimed that the Border Patrol had endorsed him as well as brought up multiple debunked hoaxes about his opponent. Trump's campaign declared victory within minutes of the debate ending.
