An alleged smuggler has been arrested in Kentucky and charged with bringing minors across the border and producing child pornography, prompting criticism from Republican politicians who blame President Joe Biden for the escalating chaos at the southern border.

Natividad Aguilera Garcia, 37, was arrested after being accused of smuggling three illegal immigrants, including two children, one of whom was involved in the production of pornography. In an attempt to evade authorities, Garcia falsely claimed to be the uncle of the minor and even provided a fake birth certificate to support his claim. After doing so, the Office of Refugee Resettlement handed the child over to him.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Garcia faces numerous charges including production and receipt of child pornography, online enticement of a minor, transportation of a minor for illicit sexual activity, encouraging illegal entry, making false statements to federal agencies, and presenting falsified documents to federal agencies. He was arraigned on Monday.

Garcia faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years for the production charge alone, according to the United States Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Kentucky. The indictment against Garcia stated that the scheme began in May 2021.

Republican leaders, including Representative Tom Emmer and Homeland Security Chair Mark Green, have attributed blame for incidents like these to the Biden administration, arguing that innocent lives are suffering due to lax enforcement of immigration laws.

“Every day that their self-made border crisis continues is another day that innocent lives are put at risk,” Emmer said to the Daily Mail.

“These horrific stories are going to keep happening as long as President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas refuse to enforce our laws,” said Homeland Security Chair Green.

This incident underscores the dire situation unfolding at the border, with the Biden administration facing mounting criticism for its perceived failure to address illegal immigration effectively.
