BLM protestors clashed with police today on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. This conflict came as religious leaders and supporters of police undertook a Power to Prayer March.

This came as police, along with religious leaders and the Sargents' Benevolent Association (SBA), marched from the Brooklyn side of the bridge to Manhattan as part of a planned protest. They were met by Black Lives Matter protestors.

BLM protestors, who have had an encampment at City Hall, heard about the planned march on behalf of law enforcement and staged their own counter protest.

Twitter user Andy Simpson posted, asking anyone who was willing in the area to come out against the Power of Prayer/SBA march: "Consider going to City Hall right now if you can. Police scanner indicates NYPD are getting aggressive with the crowd to clear the way for a pro-cop march, which is coming over the Brooklyn Bridge."

The Power of Prayer March began in Brooklyn and walked toward the bridge. This clip shows them walking from Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn to the bridge.

Supporters of the NYPD walked across the Brooklyn Bridge toward Manhattan.

Reporter Steve Burns took to Twitter, tweeting that law enforcement were attempting to find a solution that would minimize confrontation once the Power of Prayer/SBA reached the Manhattan side of the bridge, where counter-protesters were waiting.

Burns shortly after posted a series of videos, tweeting: "Power of Prayer/SBA march now taking the ramp off the Brooklyn Bridge, avoiding most of the Occupy protestors. Pro-police marchers emphatically pointing signs at the BLM protest."

Burns pointed out that it was a bit difficult to miss the metaphor in what was happening, with the "pro-police crowd on Broadway, defund the police crowd on Centre, and in the middle is New York City Hall."

Scuffles broke out along the walkway of the bridge, with police and protesters clashing. The police attempted to drive the protesters back the way they came, telling the protesters that they were not supposed to be up there.

Law enforcement made a number of arrests as a result of the counter-protesting.

Reporter Mary-Lyn Buckley tweeted: "Things taking a turn...Dozens of angry protestors from a separate group seen here being escorted off the Brooklyn Bridge in handcuffs. Police are holding participants from the Peaceful Peace March until the bridge is clear."

The Power of Prayer/SBA march was organized primarily by the faith community, which included reverends and bishops from the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, according to WCBS Radio.
