Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-Francois Blanchet was asked on Wednesday whether or not he believed that unvaccinated MPs should be able to attend Parliament.
Blanchet was among the majority of federal party leaders who said that all candidates of their respective parties would be fully vaccinated come election time, or when Parliament resumes.
The Global National reporter asked Blanchet: "Many of the parties have already said that all members... would be fully vaccinated. So, one would possibly think that this means that this falls to some Conservatives, who either refuse to say whether or not they're fully vaccinated or not. So, if not hybrid, what should happen to these Conservative members, and do you think that this targets them?"
"They get fully vaccinated, or they stay home," he said. "But Parliament should not come back under any kind of hybrid formation... I think it might have been necessary and legitimate, that would proceed a few months or a year ago. But now we know that we can go on with the way this building is supposed to work, and we should not refrain from doing so because a few persons don't believe that the vaccine works. This belongs to another century," said Blanchet.
Blanchet, a strong advocate for vaccinations, has said in the past that he would like to see a vaccine manufacturing facility built in Quebec, and that the goal would become a reality if voters chose the Bloc over the Liberals in the last election.
In June of 2021, Construction of a $126 million vaccine plant in Montreal had already been completed.
