During a speech from state Attorney General at a New York Fire Department (FDNY) ceremony, the crowd drowned her out with chants of "Trump! Trump! Trump!"

Video footage of the incident shows Attorney General James speaking behind the podium when a booming section of the audience decided to drown her out.

James was delivering a speech to the FDNY thanking Commissioner Laura Kavanagh at a church just before the crowd started chanting the name of the former president, per Newsweek.

"Come on, we're in a house of God...simmer down," James said in response.

The disruption comes after AG Letitia James targeted former President Trump with criminal cases. James recently brought forth a civil fraud case against Trump, which resulted in the former president being ordered to pay a  $354 million fine following last month's ruling by New York Judge Arthur Engoron.

James has been lambasted by Republicans for bringing the suit against the former president.

Republican New York Rep. Elise Stefanik filed an official Bar complaint with the Committee on Professional Standards against Letitia James last month, calling her handling of the state's civil fraud case against Donald Trump "shameful."

Stefanik accused James of violating "the Rules of Professional Conduct by conducting a biased investigation and prosecution of President Trump and by attacking President Trump through extrajudicial statements during a trial."

She explained that during the first five weeks of the trial, which started in October 2023, James posted more than fifty remarks about Trump on social media. Stefanik noted that while all Americans have the right to speak their minds, James' conduct "appear[ed] to violate her special responsibilities as an attorney."

Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee following Super Tuesday, has also publicly shamed Letitia James for launching a criminal case against him, referring to the effort as "election interference."
