The package includes "mine clearing equipment, armored vehicles, and artillery rounds."
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Biden administration is delivering a new security assistance package to Ukraine, marking yet another gift among many delivered to the eastern European nation, courtesy of the US taxpayer.
“Today, the Biden-Harris administration is announcing a new security assistance package for Ukraine, as we continue to stand with the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves from Russia's invasion,” stated principal deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton.
At least $196 billion has reportedly been spent by the US government in aid to Ukraine as of February 2023.
Dalton noted the package features essential items to support Ukraine’s counter-offensive strategy, such as “mine clearing equipment, armored vehicles and artillery rounds.”
Many believe that the Biden administration is secretly worried about its efforts not ultimately carrying Ukraine over the finish line, as was suggested in a recent Politico report.
The deputy press secretary concluded by promising that “as President Biden told President Zelensky on Sunday, we continue to support Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity from Russian aggression.”
In a press release, the US Department of Defense said that the package is worth up to $500 million. It includes 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds; 30 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles; 25 Stryker Armored Personnel Carriers; Anti-armor rockets; High-speed Anti-radiation missiles (HARMs); Precision aerial munitions; Small arms and over 22 million rounds of small arms ammunition and grenades; and many more things the DOD claims will assist Ukraine in “push[ing] back on Russia's war of aggression.”
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
