BREAKING: Pentagon ‘accounting error’ leads to $6.2 billion EXTRA for Ukraine

On Tuesday, the Pentagon announced that Ukraine was provided with an additional $6.2 billion of US taxpayers' money due to an accounting error that had been discovered in records pertaining to the United States' shipments of weapons to Ukraine.
 

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh explained that there was a  $3.6 billion error in the present fiscal year, in addition to $2.6 billion from the fiscal year of 2022.

Associated Press concluded that the Pentagon consequently has “additional money in its coffers to use to support Ukraine as it pursues its counteroffensive against Russia.”

Singh made the announcement during a press brief in which she explained that the accounting errors happened in a "significant number of cases" that resulted in overestimating the value of equipment drawn down from US stocks, and said that Biden administration employees received further training to prevent future mishaps.

"During the department's regular oversight of our execution of presidential drawdown authority for Ukraine, we discovered inconsistencies in equipment valuation for Ukraine. In a significant number of cases, services use replacement costs rather than net book value, thereby overestimating the value of the equipment drawn down from US stocks and provided to Ukraine," Singh said.

"Once we discovered this misevaluation, the comptroller reissued guidance on March 31, clarifying how to value equipment in line with the Financial Management Regulation and DOD policy to ensure we use the most accurate accounting methods. We have confirmed that for FY 23, the final calculation is $3.6 billion and for FY 22, it is $2.6 billion for a combined total of $6.2 billion," she explained.

"These valuation errors in no way limit or restricted the size of any of our PDAs, or impacted the provision of support to Ukraine. And while the DoD retains the authority to utilize the recaptured PDA, this has no bearing on appropriated USAI or Ukraine PDA replenishment funding approved by Congress,' the Pentgon spokeswoman concluded.

Since the war broke out over a year ago, the US has provided over $50 billion in aid to Ukraine, with much of that going toward weapons and other military equipment.

In recent months, there has been a push from certain members of Congress to have the government reveal exactly where the money is going, and where it ends up

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has stated numerous times that she wants to audit every US dollar sent to Ukraine explaining that, "Every single American...deserves to know where United States tax dollars are going in Ukraine."

"It's not for the war, against the war," she said. "It's just asking for transparency and oversight for the American people and where their billions and billions of dollars are going."
