Dr. Phil McGraw made an appearance at former President Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, endorsing the former president and taking a stand against cancel culture as well as those on the left who bully Americans who support Trump.
As he took the stage, Dr. Phil addressed the crowd by expressing his pride in the turnout and those willing to support the GOP nominee.
“I’m not here just to stand up for Donald J. Trump,” Dr. Phil said. “He’s tough as an army boot.” He highlighted the challenges Trump has faced, including impeachment, indictments, and lawsuits. “And where is he? He is still standing,” Dr. Phil remarked, met with applause from the large crowd.
While noting he doesn’t agree with everything Trump has said or done, Dr. Phil emphasized that “no human is perfect” and that you “don’t have to love everything about someone in order to love them.” He explained his presence at the rally was not to endorse Trump but to “stand up for the people who have declared their support for Donald J. Trump,” or those who feel hesitant to do so publicly due to intimidation. Dr. Phil stressed the social backlash many face for supporting Trump, describing it as a form of bullying.
“In short, that adds up to being bullied. And now we’re talking about something I know a hell of a lot about,” he said, referencing his expertise from his famous psychology show. He criticized cancel culture, saying, “It is always wrong when you bully someone.”
Addressing claims that Trump himself is a bully, Dr. Phil disagreed, arguing that real bullying requires an imbalance of power. “When there’s not, it’s just called a debate. And he’s just better at it than anybody else.”
“It’s time that we push back against cancel culture. It’s time that we push back against intimidation tactics,” Dr. Phil declared.
Dr. Phil was one of several prominent figures at the rally, which also included Trump supporters Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and celebrities like Hulk Hogan.
