On Friday, Elon Musk revealed new details regarding his upcoming fight against fellow billionaire and social media company owner Mark Zuckerberg, confirming, among other things, that the event will be held in Rome, Italy.
While Musk did not get into specifics regarding the location, he did note that, following consultation with officials from the European nation, an "epic" site had been chosen.
"The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC)," Musk began, noting that viewers will be able to livestream it on X and Meta.
He stopped short of providing an exact location, simply saying, "I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location."
"Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all," he added.
Musk went on to state that "everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy," and that "all proceeds go to veterans."
No timeline has been given, however Musk said that an MRI had revealed a problem with his right shoulder blade. Recovery from the impending surgery, he added, "will only take a few months."
The idea for a fight was first proposed in June, when Musk responding to a then-Twitter user pointing out that Zuckerberg did jiu jitsu by suggesting the two have a "cage match." The Facebook CEO replied via Instagram that he was up for it.
In the weeks since, both men have trained with some of the world's greatest fighters, preparing for their big bout.
"Am lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight," Musk said. "Don't have time to work out, so I just bring them to work."
When asked why he wanted to fight, Musk said simply, "
