The billionaire said the law was not the main reason for his decision to leave the Pacific coast for the Lone Star state, but that it was what pushed him over the edge.
"This is the final straw," Musk wrote in a post on X. "Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas."
"I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children," he added.
Just minutes later, Musk revealed that X will be moving its headquarters from San Francisco, California to Austin, Texas.
"X HQ will move to Austin," Musk wrote in a post on the platform. "Have had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building."
