Evidence of possible explosive devices have been found in both the Republican and Democratic National Comittees' headquarters.

Both committees received suspicious packages earlier on Wednesday.

The device at the RNC is reported to be a pipe bomb, and was removed and detonated safely by a bomb squad. The premises had since been evacuated.

The package at the DNC is still being identified by another bomb squad, and the DNC has also been completely evacuated, according to The New York Times.

Both buildings are located very close to the US Capitol building which is currently still under siege by a group of protestors who are trying to block the certification of last November's general elections.

Members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives have been locked inside their respective chambers and are under heavy guard. Over a thousand National Guard troops are en route to the scene to restore order.
