"This morning, numerous FBI agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation."
The FBI’s Phoenix field office said on Wednesday that it is conducting an "extensive" search along roadways in the Catalina Foothills area in relation to the Nancy Guthrie case. Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing from her Arizona home over a week ago.
"This morning, numerous FBI agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation," the statements read. "We are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain especially cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways."
This comes after a man was temporarily detained in Texas on Tuesday night for questioning in the investigation. The man, Carlos Palazuelos, was delivering for DoorDash when he was pulled over, and the FBI carried out a search warrant at the family’s home, taking their electronic devices.
The FBI on Tuesday released images and video recovered from a doorbell camera that was outside Guthrie’s front door. The photos showed a person wearing a ski mask, backpack, and dark gloves. Video of the person showed them approaching the front door, putting a hand up to the camera, and then turning around and bending over to grab what appears to be vegetation. Another video showed the person pushing the vegetation against the camera. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information in the case resulting in the return of Guthrie and/or the arrest of those responsible.
