"NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission."
"NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission," Patel said shortly after the raid. The agents arrived at the home as part of a "national security investigation in search of classified records."
Attorney General Pam Bondi shared Patel's post, saying "America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always."
At 7:32 am, Bolton posted about Russia and India, saying "Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so. Meanwhile, meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don't see these talks making any progress." He linked to an NPR story.
The investigation involves classified documents and had been underway during the Biden administration but, per a senior US official to the New York Post, it was closed "for political reasons." The investigation was opened under President Trump's first term regarding the publication of Bolton's 2020 book, "The Room Where It Happened."
The manuscript may have been leaked while it was in prepublication, which Trump and others said at the time was a violation of Bolton's NDA.
The investigation that had been opened by Trump's Department of Justice was closed under Joe Biden in 2021. A grand jury investigation into the matter was also abandoned.
That book was said to have been reliant on classified documents. President Trump had reportedly not wanted to see that book published over concerns regarding the exposure of national secrets.
Bolton served as Trump's Director of National Security from 2018 to 2019 and had previously been the 25th ambassador to the United Nations from 2005 to 2006. Since leaving office under Trump, he has been an outspoken critic of the president, primarily on foreign policy.
During his time serving in the Trump administration, Bolton clashed with the president on matters such as Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea. Trump revoked Bolton's security clearance as soon as he regained the White House in 2025.
