"A loaf of bread costs 50 percent more today than it did before the pandemic, ground beef is up almost 50 percent," Harris said.
Harris told supporters, "As president, I will take on the high costs that matter most to Americans, like the cost of food."
"We all know that prices went up during the pandemic, when the supply chains shut down and failed, but our supply chains have now improved, and prices are still too high," she added. "A loaf of bread costs 50 percent more today than it did before the pandemic, ground beef is up almost 50 percent."
Harris, who has been in the White House as Biden’s vice president, said that "many of the big food companies are seeing their highest profits in two decades, and while many grocery chains pass along these savings, others still aren’t."
She noted that as California Attorney General, she "went after companies that illegally increased prices," and that she "won more than $1 billion for consumers."
"So, believe me, as President I will go after the bad actors, and I will work to pass the first-ever ban on price gouging on food."
Many noted that these price increases occurred under the Biden-Harris administration, and questioned why she hasn't been able to tackle the prices in her 3 and a half years in the White House so far.
"A family-sized bag of Doritos costs way more today than it did in 2016. It's smaller, too. Who's fault is that, Kamala Harris," Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec wrote. "Think about it. Kamala Harris is currently the Most Powerful Woman in the world. So why can't she get anything done right now?"
"Kamala Harris admits that Americans 'don't yet feel that progress' of her catastrophic economic policies because 'costs are still too high.' But seriously, guys, just trust her! If you give her four more years Kamala Harris will totally fix the economy she broke!! Good grief," wrote Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
