The man who threw a sandwich at a federal agent earlier this summer has been found not guilty of assault. Charges were brought against the man, who was also fired from his position at the Department of Justice.

The man, Sean Dunn, was ruled not guilty of assault, per CNN. Jurors were shown several videos of Dunn yelling at officers and then throwing the sandwich. He ran after throwing the footlong, and was detained a short time afterward.

There was one video that was shown in court from a police officer's body cam, where Dunn said to the officer, “I was trying to draw them away from where they were. I succeeded." The defense did not argue about the facts of the events, but mainly focused on if throwing a sandwich would constitute assault.

“A footlong from Subway could not and certainly did not inflict bodily harm,” attorney Sabrina Shroff said to the court, and argued that it did not cause harm to the Customs and Border Patrol officer in DC.

After it emerged that Dunn was an employee at the DOJ, Attorney General Pam Bondi posted to X at the time, "If you touch any law enforcement officer, we will come after you. I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER. Not only is he FIRED, he has been charged with a felony. This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ."

"You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement," she added.

The affidavit in the case stated that Dunn pointed at the officer, yelled profanities, and then said, "Why are you here? I don't want you in my city!" before he threw the sandwich at the officer.
