“They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views. They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she was attacked in a restaurant by ‘insane woman’ on Monday night.

The Republican congresswoman posted on Twitter that she was “…attacked in a restaurant tonight by an insane women and screamed at by her adult son.”

“They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views,” she added. “They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control.”

Greene described “sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons.”

“People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore,” she added. “Our country is gone.”

Democrats in Congress have previously called for harassing Republicans in public places. In 2018, Rep. Maxine Waters, (D-CA) came under fire for saying members of the Trump administration should be heckled when in public.

"If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere," Waters told a crowd of supporters.

Last week, Greene called for a "national divorce" between red states and blue states. "We need a national divorce," Greene wrote on Twitter. "We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government."

"Everyone I talk to says this," Greene added. "From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done."

Greene later clarified that she was not advocating for civil war in a wide-ranging interview with Charlie Kirk.

"We don't want a civil war; that's the last thing we want in our country. As a matter of fact, we want to be able to respect each other and get along."

"What does a national divorce look like?" Kirk asked.

Greene explained that a national divorce would be "separating by red states and blue states, and making state rights and state power a lot stronger than it is right now."

She noted it would also shrink the power of the federal government, especially when it comes to federal mandates such as education.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
