Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76. His death comes just weeks after his farewell show.

In a statement, his family said he died "surrounded by love."

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the statement added.

"He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

His death comes just weeks after performing a farewell concert for his fans and reuniting with his bandmates from Black Sabbath.

"You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart," he said on stage during the concert performed at Villa Park. The event included some of his favorite acts such as Metallica as well as Guns'n'Roses.

Osbourne was a widely known pioneer in heavy metal before going out on his own in the music industry. He had hits such as Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train, and Changes.

In his later life, Osbourne suffered from Parkinson's disease as well as other health problems. He also sustained injuries from a fall in 2019. During his career, Osbourne was induced into the UK Music Hall of Fame as well as the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as solo artist as well as with Black Sabbath.

The final concert raised over £150 million for charity, according to the Ealing Times. "It's a goodbye as far as my live performances go, and what a way to go out," Ozzy said at the time of the concert.

The show was held at Birmingham's NEC, the region where Osbourne was born in 1948. He said of the show location and significance, "I couldn’t have done my final show anywhere else. I had to go back to the beginning," per the Mirror.

“Birmingham is a city which means so much to Ozzy,” Osbourne's wife Sharon Osbourne, said. “When it comes to heavy metal music, Black Sabbath forming and his love of Aston Villa — it all started here.”

Osbourne and his family starred in the reality TV show "The Osbournes," which featured everyday life with the musician and his family. The show lasted from 2002 to 2005. It introduced his family to the world and also showed a softer side of the heavy metal icon.

Osbourne leaves behind his wife, Sharon, his children Aimee, Kelly and Jack, as well as two of his older children from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, Jessica and Louis. He also leaves behind several grandchildren.
