As the jury selection in Trump's New York trial continued on Friday, a man set himself on fire near the courthouse, in the protest area. Reports came in live from the scene, saying that the individual was on fire for more than three minutes.

The footage from the scene was graphic. Screaming could be heard from the onlookers.

CNN's Laura Coates reported her observations in real time.

The person set themselves on fire in the protest area near the courthouse, Fox News reported. Reporters from Fox News called to each other to bring a fire extinguisher from their van.

The person fell to the ground and CNN reported that they lay there motionless, although paramedics were tending to him at the scene. Many papers were scattered around him. As he was being treated, he was moving his arms, Fox News reported.

Officers could be seen coming to the man's aid as his arms, gray and charred, were raised in the air. They lifted him onto a guerney and took him away.

Fox News reported that the "flames were 20 feet in the air." Police arrived and put a blanket on the man just as reports were coming in that the final jury had been seated in the trial.

Coates described the scene for viewers, saying "I cannot overstate the emotional response of watching a human being engulfed in flames … what an emotional and unbelievably disturbing moment here in Manhattan."

President Donald Trump has been in New York attending a trial for 34 Class E felony fraudulent documents counts brought against him by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. He has been in court every day since jury selection began on Monday, and has been ordered to attend the trial every day that it is in session.
