Authorities are responding to reports of a small plane that crashed near the Roosevelt shopping mall in a Philadelphia neighborhood around 6:30 pm EST. The incident occurred near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. Multiple casualties have been reported. The FAA said six people were on board the aircraft, and police reported several injuries on the ground, according to CBS News.

Philadelphia Fire officials said that several homes near the crash site were set on fire. It's unclear if the homes were struck by the plane. Video of the incident showed that traffic ahead near the crash came to a halt as a fireball-like explosion occurred where the plane hit the ground. At least  seven people have been killed in the crash, the six in the plane, and one on the ground, per ACB6. At least 19 people were also injured.

According to a statement released by the FAA, "A Learjet 55 crashed around 6:30 pm local time Friday, Jan. 31, after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. There were two people on board. The plane was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri."

In an update, the FAA said that six people were on board the plane.

The patient was reportedly a child. Her mother, as well as four others were on board the plane when it came crashing down. The young girl had been on her back to Mexico after receiving life-saving medical treatment in the United States.

Video footage captured on a Ring Doorbell camera shows what appears to be a plane nosediving to the ground. A large explosion followed.

It's unclear what led to the crash. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident.

This comes on the heels of a large plane crash incident from this past week near Reagan International Airport. A total of 67 people were killed as a US Military Black Hawk helicopter collided with a commercial American Airlines flight in the air.
