The reason for the arrest is as yet unknown.
According to TMZ, the rapper has been accused of battery in a citizen's arrest. Video from the outlet showed a scuffle with security involving the musician. Previous speculation on X was that he'd hit someone in the crowd. Render won for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” Best Rap Album for Michael.
He allegedly got physical with a security guard when the individual did not get out of his way.
The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner said that people in the crowd shouted "free Mike."
"Just spoke to an official who tells me it’s a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. 'It’s a big nothing,' source says," Gardner said.
This comes just days after Render was on Bill Maher's show and said that he would not commit to voting for Joe Biden for president over Donald Trump. "My feeling is, pick your policy, not your person... This is not the Dallas Cowboys versus your favorite team," he said when asked his thoughts on the upcoming contest.
As for Biden, he said “Can he get himself to apologize for the crime bill? Can he get himself to get his head out of his ass and say ‘black people, you are black regardless? I need you to tell me what I need to do.’ Can he pick a coalition of former people who were affected by drug law, street gangs, recidivism and crime and say ‘I need you as a board to advise me how to fix federal prisons’? If he can do that, absolutely I can. So, my challenge is out."
