Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has officially filed the necessary paperwork to make a run for President of the United States.
He is set to publicly announce the news on Wednesday evening in a Twitter Space alongside Elon Musk.
This move by DeSantis follows months of speculation that he would make a White House run, leading to divides in Republican circles over whether the party's nominee should be former President Trump or the Florida governor.
Unlike some of Trump's challengers, DeSantis has endorsed much of the 'Make America Great Again' agenda, as was observed in a pro-Trump ad that chastised the Florida governor over his perceived lack of loyalty to the former president.
Fox News reports that this reveal by DeSantis comes as he is meeting with wealthy financial donors in Miami this week.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
