A new report from the Washington Post claims that the Secret Service apparently "denied requests for more security at Trump events" over the last two years. The assertion comes just one week after Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally.

"Top officials," WaPo reported, "repeatedly rejected requests from Trump’s security detail for more manpower and gear at events before attempted assassination, at times citing lack of resources, people familiar with the asks said."

Agents tasked with protecting Trump reportedly requested magnetometers and more agents at events that he attended in order to screen attendees. They also requested additional snipers and specialty teams specifically for outdoor events.

The requests were denied at times by senior officials within the Secret Service, citing various reasons including a lack of resources and staffing shortages. Because of these frequent denials, Trump's top aides reportedly grew more frustrated with Secret Service leadership and believed the agency was not working hard enough to protect him.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle initially denied claims that they had turned down requests for additional security at Trump events, but the agency has now acknowledged that some requests may have been rejected, per WaPo.

The revelation comes amid calls for Cheatle's resignation following the catastrophic agency failures that took place at Trump's Pennsylvania rally. Earlier on Saturday, Democrat Congressman Brendan Boyle called for Cheatle to resign.

"I’m very sorry to reach this conclusion: I have no confidence in the leadership of the United States Secret Service. I hereby call on Kimberly Cheatle to resign," Boyle said via X.

What? The SS didn't have enough short, dumpy, out of shape, DEI female agents to assign?
