BREAKING: Trump beating Biden by 7 points in new Harvard/Harris poll, DeSantis would tie against either Biden or Kamala

A new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll has revealed that in a rematch between Biden and Trump in 2024, Trump would win 47 to 40 percent over Biden.

In a head-to-head against either Biden or Kamala if DeSantis were to win the Republican nomination, the Florida Republican would tie against each of then 42 to 42 percent.

The poll also revealed that the three most favorable political figures in the US right now are Elon Musk, former President Donald Trump, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with President Joe Biden in the fifth position.

While Twitter CEO Elon Musk is not running for office, he polled higher in favorability than any politician in the country. Musk's favorable percentage is 47, whereas just 34 percent of those polled perceived him in an unfavorable light.

Trump was the second most favored person, at 46 percent, with 47 percent of people viewing him as "unfavorable." 45 percent of voters viewed DeSantis favorably, while 37 percent viewed him as "unfavorable."

Other notable names on the list are Congressman Bernie Sanders, who sits at number four; Hillary Clinton, in slot six; and Vice President Kamala Harris, who sits at number seven.

However, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy currently has the lowest “unfavorable” rates on the chart, but he is kept out of the top positions for the large percentage of people who do not know who he is.

The poll revealed that the majority of voters view inflation as their highest concern, at 34 percent. In second was immigration, at 27 percent, which comes as Title 42 expired earlier this month. In third place was the economy, with 25 percent of Americans responding as such.

Following the release of the Durham Report, 37 percent of voters said they were "very concerned" about interference by the FBI and intelligence agencies in a future presidential election, and 71 percent said the US government needs wide-ranging reforms to prevent interference in elections by law enforcement and the intelligence community.

In response to Biden’s border crisis, in which illegal immigration has seen record highs, 68 percent said that stricter border policies were needed.

In regard to Trump’s time as president, 48 percent of voters said that he was "just right" when it came to handling China, with an additional 38 percent saying that he needed to be tougher on the country.

Additionally, just a third of those surveyed said that the US was on the "right track," and two-thirds of the country believe that the economy is taking a significant downturn, which aligns with the data that roughly half of the voters say that their personal financial situation is getting worse.

The poll also found that the three most favorable institutions in the US are Google, Amazon, and the US military. Amazon took the first spot, registering 78 percent of people perceiving the company as favorable. In second was the US military, with 77 percent of people saying the institution is favorable, and then Google, which garnered a 75 percent favorable rating.

The poll also revealed details about a hypothetical primary race, which would see Trump handily defeating DeSantis, 58 percent to 14 percent respectively. However, if Trump were not to run for president, DeSantis would claim victory over all other Republican candidates, raking in 41 percent of the vote. Former Vice President Mike Pence would take the second place, with just 14 percent of the vote.

While Trump has an edge over DeSantis in the “very favorable” category, 27 and 19 respectively, DeSantis has a lower “very favorable” rating than the former Republican president, with numbers at 23 and 36 respectively. 

DeSantis is expected to officially make his presidential-run announcement in the next week, which is likely to give him enough time to gather the funds needed to meaningfully compete against Trump.

The poll was conducted between May 17 and 18 of 2,004 registered voters, and was carried out online. The results were reportedly "weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, marital status, household size, income, employment, education, political party, and political ideology where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population."

The survey also notes that it made use of "propensity score weighting," which was a tool used to adjust for respondents' propensity to be online.
