Following the closing arguments in his civil fraud trial in New York City, Donald Trump delivered his own statement in a press conference outside his Wall Street Trump building, calling the proceedings "election interference."

The former president claimed that the defense doesn't have "any evidence" against him, and suggested that Attorney General Letitia James was suffering from "serious Trump Derangement Syndrome."

"We've proven this case so conclusively," Trump began. "We've asked for directed verdict many times. They don't have any facts, they don't have any evidence against us." He added that the only witness against him was a "deranged" felon who had been "convicted of lying."

He suggested the case was "politically motivated," pointing out that James had campaigned on a message of "I will get Trump."

"It's a shame that a thing like this is able to happen," Trump continued. "We won this case already in the court of appeals ... but this judge has been very very slow to accept that opinion because that's not the opinion that he wants."

Trump explained that the consumer fraud statute cited in his case had "never been used for anything like this before," calling his prosecution "a witch hunt in the truest sense of the word."

"It's all a conspiracy to try and get Biden, who can't put two sentences together, trying to him into office."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
