A proposed spending package has been reached to put up for a vote later today in Congress. President-elect Donald Trump announced the success of the deal on Truth Social. This comes after the first proposed spending package was tanked after Elon Musk and President-elect Donald Trump slammed the package on Wednesday evening.

Trump posted on Truth Social: "SUCCESS in Washington! Speaker Mike Johnson and the House have come to a very good Deal for the American People. The newly agreed to American Relief Act of 2024 will keep the Government open, fund our Great Farmers and others, and provide relief for those severely impacted by the devastating hurricanes."

"A VERY important piece, VITAL to the America First Agenda, was added as well - The date of the very unnecessary Debt Ceiling will be pushed out two years, to January 30, 2027. Now we can Make America Great Again, very quickly, which is what the People gave us a mandate to accomplish. All Republicans, and even the Democrats, should do what is best for our Country, and vote 'YES' for this Bill, TONIGHT!" he added.

According to Punchbowl News reporter Melanie Zanona, the GOP CR deal contains a clean farm bill, a two-year suspension of the debt ceiling, disaster relief spending, as well as other provisions.

This comes after several posts from Musk led to Trump announcing he was “totally against” the spending package that was unveiled on Wednesday evening this week. The over 1,500 page CR bill was cut down to only 116 pages with the new proposal.

Trump also reportedly gave Musk the green light on his posts that eventually led to the tanking of the first spending package. "I told him that if he agrees with me, that he could put out a statement," the president-elect told reporters on Thursday.

Some GOP House members from the Freedom Caucus, however, have taken issue with the bill. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) has voiced concern over the suspension of the debt ceiling.

Other members of the House Freedom Caucus are reportedly taking issue with the package, citing the suspension as well. These include Reps. Andy Ogles (R-TN), Bob Good (R-VA), as well as Ralph Norman (R-SC), according to Zanona.
