Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Wednesday blasting tech giants for being "a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our Country."
"What Facebook, Twitter, and Google have done is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our Country. Free Speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before," wrote Trump.
"The people of our Country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our Electoral Process," the statement continues.
The statement comes just hours after the Facebook Oversight Board announced that they would uphold its January 7th ban on Trump.
The board said that "Trump's posts during the Capitol riot severely violated Facebook's rules and encouraged and legitimized violence."
The board also admitted that Trump wasn't the only one breaking the rules, stating that "the board also found Facebook violated its own rules by imposing a suspension that was 'indefinite.' This penalty is not described in Facebook's content policies. It has no clear criteria and gives Facebook total discretion on when to impose or lift it," and decided that within 6 months, the tech company must review the matter and "decide a new penalty that reflects its rules, the severity of the violation, and prospect of future harm," pointing to either a timed suspension or account deletion.
