"Companies are fleeing, people are fleeing, the streets are crime-ridden and Letitia James, that’s all she thinks about is get Trump."
Speaking outside the New York City courtroom on Thursday morning where closing arguments in the civil case against him have been ongoing, 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump said the case was a "witch hunt" and "election interference at the highest level."
"It’s in coordination with the White House and Joe Biden because he can’t win a campaign fairly."
Trump said the case was "very bad for New York State."
"Companies are fleeing, people are fleeing, the streets are crime-ridden and Letitia James, that’s all she thinks about is get Trump."
Trump said that he wanted to speak in the closing arguments, but said Judge Arthur Engoron isn’t letting him "because I’ll bring up things he doesn’t want to hear."
Trump had considered making a statement during closing arguments but Judge Arthur Engoron prevented him from doing so.
New York Attorney General Letitia James is now seeking $370 million from Trump and his company, up from the initial $250 million sought.
Trump and his attorneys had gag orders placed on them by Engoron, with an appeals court lifting the gag order on Trump in November. The gag order prevented Trump from speaking out against Allison Greenfield, the law clerk of Judge Arthur Engoron who is presiding over the non jury trial case. Trump has been fined a total of $15,000 for violating the gag order.
