President-elect Donald Trump said that he would consider pardoning New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Monday morning during a press conference from Mar-a-Lago. The comments come as Adams has been under investigation from the Biden-Harris administration.

Trump was asked by a reporter, "Would you consider pardoning Eric Adams?"

Trump said that he would consider doing so, but would have to look into the facts of Adams' case. Adams was indicted on federal criminal charges of bribery, wire fraud, and corruption earlier in September.

"I'd have to see, because I don't know the facts ... you know, it's very interesting, when he essentially went against what was happening with the migrants coming in," Trump added. In his comments, the president-elect said that he thought Adams was being "treated unfairly" with the charges, and that the NYC mayor's statements about immigration would likely land him with an indictment.

Adams had decided to push against the Biden-Harris administration when it came to the number of illegal immigrants arriving in New York City, citing concerns over criminality. Trump said that after Adams moved to push against Biden, that he would later be indicted.

His indictment read that Adams "sought and received other improper benefits from some of the same co-conspirators who funneled straw donations to his campaigns. In particular, a senior official in the Turkish diplomatic establishment who facilitated many straw donations to Adams, also arranged for Adams and his companions to receive free or discounted travel of Turkey's national airline."

Others in Adams’ circle have also been investigated over the allegations. Earlier in September, federal agents seized electronic devices from multiple high-ranking officials in Adams’ office.
