The FBI conducted raids against two of New York City Mayor Eric Adams' top aides on Thursday. Adams phone was siezed in 2021 as part of an FBI investigation into whether or not his campaign had taken illegal campaign contributions from Turkey. An aide for New York Governor Kathy Hochul was recently charged on suspicions of being an agent for the Chinese Communist Party.

The homes of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, who is engaged to Schools Chancellor David Banks, as well as Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks were raided by the FBI on Thursday morning, per sources who spoke to ABC News.

The mayor’s chief counsel, Lisa Zornberg, said, "Investigators have not indicated to us the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation."

"As a former member of law enforcement, the mayor has repeatedly made clear that all members of the team need to follow the law," Zornberg added. The FBI and Southern District of New York declined to comment on the matter. The agency seized electronic devices amid their search for evidence, sources told the outlet. No charges have been filed.

A source that spoke to ABC News and was familiar with the events said that the searches do not appear to be related to an investigation into whether or not Adams took donations from Turkey in exchange for favors. Federal agents have previously raided the homes of several others connected to Adams. The New York Times concurred on that as well.

Campaign consultant and top fundraiser Brianna Suggs for Eric Adams previously had her home searched by the FBI last year in wake of the allegations about the donations from Turkey.

A warrant for the search at the time stated, "Investigators sought evidence to support potential charges that included the theft of federal funds and conspiracy to steal federal funds, wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy, as well as campaign contributions by foreign nationals and conspiracy to make such contributions."
