Raincross Hospitality Corporation in Riverside, California, on Saturday has cancelled a planned "America First" event, at which firebrand Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) were slated to speak.
In response, Gaetz and Greene have planned a protest against communism at Riverside City Hall. The protest will be held at 5pm on Saturday.
Last week, the Pacific Hills Banquet & Event Center in Laguna Hills had previously cancelled the same event scheduled for Saturday, upon having found out who the speakers were going to be, The Hill reported.
Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson stated on the matter: "I recognize this was a divisive issue in our community, and I am glad it has been resolved. I commend Raincross Hospitality Corp. for this decision."
"Riverside is a diverse and inclusive community, so it is heartening to hear that this event will not move forward. I am disappointed we even got to this point, because these speakers are the antithesis of everything Riverside stands for," Dawson added.
However, the two controversial lawmakers are not giving up and plan to find an alternate venue as quickly as possible to continue the series of rallies the Republican politicians have been holding across the country.
Taylor Green herself commented on Twitter: "Here's a message for you communist Democrats: We are going to stand up, and we will have our America First rally tomorrow. You can't cancel us. You can't stop us."
