Canada and Mexico are among the Biden administration's top picks for countries to eventually receive US-made vaccines, a source told Bloomberg.

The US, however, will be taking an Americans-first approach to their vaccine rollout, saying they will not share until they have enough for their own population.

A timeline for this has not been made clear.

The US, which has had one of the most effective vaccine rollouts in the world, has been requested to share those vaccines by Mexico, and Ontario Premier Doug Ford has specifically called upon the Trudeau government to request aid from the US.

The US, however, has declined the calls for aid.

On March 1, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked whether or not the US would be willing to share its supply of doses at the time, to which she replied with a flat "No."

"The president has made clear that he is focused on ensuring that vaccines are available to every American. That is our focus," said Psaki.

"The next step is economic recovery, and that is ensuring that our neighbors, Mexico and Canada, have similarly managed the pandemic so that we can open our borders and build back better," she said.

"At this time, there have been requests around the world, of course, from a number of countries who have requested doses from the United States, and we have not provided doses from the US government to anyone," she said.
