A Daily Show correspondent gathered black voters to discuss their reaction to the presidential debate and was shocked to find out at least half of them would be voting for former Republican President Donald Trump in November.

This comes after a recent Ipsos poll showed that support for President Biden among the African-American community had dropped 20 points from 2020 after his dismal debate performance in Atlanta, the Daily Mail reported.

Josh Johnson, a correspondent for the liberal comedy show, gathered a focus group of six black Americans - three men and three women - and asked: "Do we f*ck with Trump?"

Three of them said yes, which included two of the women, who predicted that the black community would shift their support to Trump this election cycle on claims that the Democratic Party and President Biden had left them behind. Johnson chuckled and said: "I didn't see that coming."

"You know, they use the issues of the African American community as a soapbox to stand on and make promises just to get us to come out and vote, and then once we vote and everyone's in place - it's like, well, what happened?" said one of the female Trump supporters, defending her vote.

Another turned to President Biden's past interview with Charlamagne the God, in which Biden proclaimed: "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black." They didn't find his comment appealing.

"They have both said things that were questionable and unsavory, but when you start looking at facts - it's like Biden, you done dropped the ball, brother," said one female voter.

Donald Trump has made significant gains within the black community since leaving the White House in 2021, according to two June AP-NORC surveys, but he is still polling behind in support compared to Biden.

Trump has received the most gains from young black adults, with one-third of them viewing the former president "positively." When all black voting age categories are inserted, that number declines to 30 percent support.

On the other hand, President Biden is viewed favorably by six out of ten black voters, a decline in support he received in 2020 when eight out of ten black voters viewed him favorably.
