Greta Gerwig's new Netflix movie based on CS Lewis' The Magicians Nephew, part of the Narnia series, is racking up stars, the latest of whom is rumored to be Daniel Craig. The film is slated to go into production in the summer of 2025 and has already snagged Charlie XCX to be one of the stars.

Craig has played James Bond and has a film and television career going back to the 1990s. Craig was in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well as other films.

The film, tentatively titled "Narnia: The Magician's Nephew," would feature Craig as Uncle Andrew Ketterly, "Digory Kirke’s eccentric and morally ambiguous uncle," What's on Netflix says. One of the plot points would be unleashing the White Witch, rumored to be the character slated for Charlie XCX, on London.

Netflix announced plans to create content based on the Narnia series in 2018. Gerwig was announced in 2023 as the writer and director of two of the films. Of the project, she said "I’m slightly in the place of terror because I really do have such reverence for Narnia, I loved Narnia so much as a child. As an adult, C.S. Lewis is a thinker and a writer. I’m intimidated by doing this. It’s something that feels like a worthy thing to be intimidated by. …

"As a non-British person," she went on, in January 2024, "I feel a particular sense of wanting to do it correctly… it’s like when Americans do Shakespeare, there’s a slight feeling of reverence and as if maybe we should treat it with extra care. It is not our countryman."

The film will be shot in London and a release date is coming together for Thanksgiving 2026 with an exclusive release in IMAX. After that, it would move to Netflix.
