In the course of a raid on a weed farm in Camarillo, California on Thursday, protesters threw rocks at federal vehicles, one armed man shot at them, and eight unaccompanied children were recovered. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom and other Democrat officials condemned the federal response.

Federal agents conducted the raid after obtaining a criminal warrant against the farm over harboring illegal immigrants. "Kids running from tear gas," Newsom said, "crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me 'Newscum'—but he's the real scum."

"Here's some breaking news," CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott responded, "10 juveniles were found at this marijuana facility - all illegal aliens, 8 of them unaccompanied. It's now under investigation for child labor violations. This is Newsom's California."

The Department of Homeland Security asked, "Why are there children working at a marijuana facility, Gavin?"

Rep. Jimmy Gomez also condemned the action, saying, "How many MS-13 gang members are waking up at 3 a.m. to pick strawberries? O’yeah, zero! Trump said he’d go after 'bad hombres,' but he’s targeting the immigrant farm workers who feed America. Either he lied — or he can’t tell the difference."

"Instead of prioritizing dangerous criminals Trump is targeting families that have been here for years picking our food. The public outcry and protests are occuring because the American public knows this is wrong," (sic) said Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego.

The original poster who was shared by these accounts, Brian Allen, later provided an update to account for the fact that the farm was actually a weed grower, saying "UPDATE: The Ventura ICE raid hit a state-licensed cannabis nursery (Glass House Farms)—same undocumented farm labor, same tear gas, same sabotage. Whether it’s OG Kush or Oxnard strawberries, ripping out the workers who feed (and medicate) America is still border-policy malpractice."

Texas Rep. Brandon Gill was quick to point out "They’re not 'picking our food.' This is a weed farm."

Border czar Tom Homan was asked about the incident, saying that federal agents are "prioritizing public safety threats and national security threats." They're also looking for missing children.

"We're looking for over 300,000 missing children," Homan said, "we've already found 10,000." He noted that this is not a story being covered by most press before saying "This should be a nonpartisan issue, arresting public safety threats and national security threats. Everybody should be on the same page on that, rescuing children, it should be a nonpartisan issue. Everybody should be in lockstep on that, but they're not. The media's line, the Democrats take: They don't want President Trump be successful."
