Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) called for Donald Trump to be "eliminated" during the fall of last year. The clip has resurfaced, going viral online in light of Trump being within 500 yards of a would-be assassin suspect on Sunday.

At the time, Goldman told Jen Psaki on MSNBC, claiming that Trump's rhetoric was dangerous, "We saw what happened on January 6th, when he used his inflammatory rhetoric now, and his recent truth social post is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone that might be trying to work in government."

"And it is just unquestionable at this point that man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated," Goldman added.

The clip resurfaced on Monday, following the assassination attempt on the GOP nominee while he was out for a round of golf. Trump's scheduled time to go golfing was not publicly known, and questions remain as to how he was able to figure out that Trump was out for a round of golf that day.

Goldman faced backlash at the time he made the comment as well, sparking a social media firestorm. He was forced to apologize for the comment, later posting, "Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again."

"While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words."

Goldman has previously said that Trump is “paving the way to become a Vladimir Putin or to become an Adolf Hitler.”

Trump, who at the time was the GOP frontrunner for the 2024 presidential primary, was facing several legal battles at the time, some of which have fallen apart as they progressed through the courts.

Trump has now faced multiple brushes with death along the campaign trail, the Butler rally shooting where he was hit in the ear by a bullet shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks, as well as the incident that occurred on Sunday with gunman Ryan Wesley Routh.
