An eight-year-old girl has died and nine others have been taken to hospital after a driver ran over a group of girls in London, Ontario.
The driver was a 76-year-old woman who mounted a curb a struck the group on the sidewalk. This occurred close to 7 PM on Tuesday night.
The collision also involved a few other vehicles. The driver struck another vehicle that was waiting at a red light. The victims are suffering from a range of injuries, according to CP24.
The victims are between the ages of 6 to 40. One of the victims appears to have been a member of the Girl's Guides of Canada.
After she struck the vehicle, "she continued through the intersection where she mounted the curb just west of the intersection behind me," said a police officer.
"She struck a light standard or a light post, she struck a small tree and then a group of pedestrians who were walking eastbound on the north side of Riverside Drive towards Wonderland Road," the police officer added.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing. Police do not believe that the driver had any intent to cause this incident.
