Nobody has called Elliot Page for work since ‘The Odyssey’ role

Actress Elliot Page revealed that she is having difficulty finding work following her appearance in Christopher Nolan’s film “The Odyssey.”

Page sat down in an interview with film journalist Kevin McCarthy to discuss her career and her latest film. “The Odyssey” has surpassed $1.5 billion at the global box office, while Nolan has received both praise and criticism for his adaptation of the ancient Greek epic.

Despite the film’s financial success, Page said she has not received any calls about future projects.

“I imagine you’re getting a zillion calls after this movie,” McCarthy asked.

“No, Kevin, I’m not,” Page responded with a laugh. “So, let’s — if someone wants to call me…”

Page then appeared to imply that her transgender identity was contributing to her lack of opportunities, sarcastically suggesting that she receives pushback for being “Canadian” rather than explicitly saying it because she identifies as transgender.

“I know I get some pushback for being…. Canadian,” she said.

The subject came up again moments later, when McCarthy told Page that she was coming off “arguably the greatest movie ever made” and would likely have “the opportunity to choose something incredible.” Page said she wanted to become more proactive about pursuing the roles she wants, explaining that she had previously been perceived in a particular way and that circumstances have changed since her transition.

“It’s a little tricky for me to get cast right now. I think that’s probably for obvious, pretty obvious reasons. The Canadian thing,” she said, sarcastically adding “those tariffs.”

Page’s role in “The Odyssey” generated widespread controversy online, with critics questioning Nolan’s decision to cast Page, a biological female, as a male soldier. Page remains the most prominent transgender-identifying actress in Hollywood, after previously being known for her roles in “Inception” and “Juno,” among others.
