Eric Adams tries to lure gay Florida residents to New York City with rainbow billboards

"Other folks like to hide their color, we like to show our color, and that's the rainbow representative of this community," commented Adams during a press conference, talking about the billboards.

NYC mayor Eric Adams has launched a massive publicity campaign throughout major population centers in the state of Florida, telling them they can move there to get away from the new anti-grooming bill recently signed into law.

The gargantuan digital billboards first appeared on Monday in the cities of Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Orlando. Over five million people are expected to see them between now and May 29, which is the length of time they will be up.

The ostensible idea behind the ads is to lure people in the LGBTQ+ community to move to New York and away from Florida in the wake of the "Parental Rights in Education" bill which recently became law. The law prohibits teachers from grooming children into adult sexuality by talking about sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity to students in kindergarten through third grade.

"Other folks like to hide their color, we like to show our color, and that's the rainbow representative of this community," commented Adams during a press conference, talking about the billboards.

"We want to remind everyone that New York City is full of people who will be celebrated by everyone, now and in the future," the mayor continued.

While there are lots of misconceptions about what the law actually is, it simply states that sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity may not be broached by teachers in grades K-3.

The language of the bill further states that lessons in upper grades on these matters must be age appropriate, in line with typical cognitive and developmental abilities of children who are doing the learning.

During the pandemic, New York City saw a population decline as residents fled the onerous restrictions of the Big Apple and moved to free states like Florida.
