"Today following outreach from the Justice Department, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago," Bondi wrote. "The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs."
She added, "The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement." Per ABC 7, the group that was removed appears to be one titled "ICE Sighting—Chicagoland."
The Department of Homeland Security has said that attacks on ICE agents have increased by more than 1,000 percent, with agents facing doxxing attempts as well as attacks.
In September, the Department of Justice announced charges against Cynthia Raygoza, Sandra Carmona Samane, and Ashleigh Brown after they allegedly followed an ICE agent to his home and livestreamed the pursuit online.
In early October, Apple removed the ICEBlock app from its store. The application allows users to alert others to the movements of ICE agents in a given area. The application was used by Joshua Jahn, the suspect in the shooting at a Dallas ICE facility that resulted in the deaths of two people who were detained at the time.
In Illinois, a Democrat running for Illinois State Senate doxxed the hotel where ICE agents were staying and urged his followers to call the hotel and complain, as well as report ICE.
Two suspects in Chicago, Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ruiz have been charged with ramming their cars into federal agents. They were released by a judge. Chicago ICE facilities have been targeted by an anarchist website, with detailed layouts, diagrams, and photos being published. Also published on the site were photos of ICE agents as well as their names and badge numbers.
